In September of 1954, William and Dorothy Onnybecker attended the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) auction and purchased the property that is known today as Bee Spring Lodge. Sixty (60) years later, the resort is still owned and operated by George Onnybecker, son a of the late William and Dorothy Onnybecker. “We are proud, blessed and grateful to be celebrating our sixtieth year in business with you.”
The celebratory party will begin at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28th in the parking lot of Bee Spring Lodge. Miss Su from the Hitchin’ Post in Aurora will be offering a “soda tasting”. She has more than 180 flavors of soda and will give you a chance to try some and buy some! Papaw’s Pit Stop will be selling pulled bar-b-q, hot dogs and all the trimmings for dinner this year along with a cold bottle of ice water. Later, we’ll have the crowning of Little Mr. and Miss Honey Bee, giving away prizes, and then be ready for the Grand Finale…..Fireworks over the water! Please plan to join us for this wonderful celebration of hard work, dedication, love of hospitality and you, our customers.
As in the past, we have asked for donated items or monetary donations for the Sheriff’s Boys and Girls Ranch. We are requesting those donations again this year and will have the “kiddie pool” on the patio available to place your donations. All items will be delivered to the camp the following Monday. Check back here for a list of items that are needed for camp this year.
As a side note, lawn chairs or blankets to sit on, bug spray and sunscreen may be items to think about. Parking is tight too, so plan to car pool as much as possible.
